In the 4th minute, Boris De Keijser hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guy Ballette struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Phillipe Henrix didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC The Special Ones. Phillipe Henrix made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guy Ballette in the 7th minute of play. FC The Special Ones's Armand Stessel got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of FC The Special Ones booed when KFC Latem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bertrand Justus didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elias Herremans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Robben Vergau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Andrew Maerschalks hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Roni Van Maestricht's late challenge caught a FC The Special Ones's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roni Van Maestricht helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of FC The Special Ones booed when KFC Latem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roni Van Maestricht didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the match, FC The Special Ones's goal looked a bit too open when Elias Herremans came free, but Robben Vergau reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Guy Ballette notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of KFC Latem's Phillipe Henrix. Phillipe Henrix was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Elias Herremans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Robben Vergau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elias Herremans stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Robben Vergau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erik-Jan Verhasselt in the 52nd minute of play. In the 53rd minute, Guy Ballette ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Phillipe Henrix was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Erik-Jan Verhasselt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Robben Vergau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Erik-Jan Verhasselt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robben Vergau read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Erik-Jan Verhasselt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in KFC Latem's zone, Armand Stessel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phillipe Henrix came out of the goal and Armand Stessel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Robben Vergau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elias Herremans in the 65th minute of play. If Armand Stessel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robben Vergau showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elias Herremans, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Erik-Jan Verhasselt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robben Vergau having to interfere. When KFC Latem's Erik-Jan Verhasselt in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The FC The Special Ones supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC The Special Ones would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
