Gust Van Aertvin lost his temper 18 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 17 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for R.F.C.LIEGE! The referee gave Vaartkant a penalty, 20 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ken Goossens, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of R.F.C.LIEGE's Ian De Kerpel. 1-1. R.F.C.LIEGE's Ian De Kerpel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis Vercauteren in the 22nd minute of play. Dennis Vercauteren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ian De Kerpel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 71st minute Danny Breugelmans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian De Kerpel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Karel Boumans managed to get in a good position for a shot. R.F.C.LIEGE's supporters rose to their feet, but Karel Boumans was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jeff Van Herendael breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Jim Koninkx fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vaartkant's protests and gave Jim Koninkx a yellow card for diving instead. Jim Koninkx hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Karel Boumans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeff Van Herendael having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, Vaartkant's goalkeeper Jeff Van Herendael had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karel Boumans. 89 minutes into the match, Xavier Valkenaers notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of R.F.C.LIEGE's Ian De Kerpel. Ian De Kerpel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
