Henri-Patrick De Smet started the match with the kick off. Gery Candries took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rik Peters. Rik Peters dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 10th minute of the match Fransesco Costermans shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Wim Van Leempoel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Wim Van Leempoel was a little too slow when Henri-Patrick De Smet got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 11th minute. The score was now 1-1. Andreas Reniers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Wim Van Leempoel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The attack was good, but when Gery Candries in the 20th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Wim Van Leempoel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henri-Patrick De Smet, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. The KFC Roeselare fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when KFC Roeselare's Andreas Reniers looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Henri-Patrick De Smet might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wim Van Leempoel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Henri-Patrick De Smet ran back to his position shaking his head. Henri-Patrick De Smet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wim Van Leempoel having to interfere. After 37 played minutes KFC Roeselare got a freekick which was hit by Andreas Reniers. The supporters of KFC Roeselare booed when Velde was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kieth Cornelis didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 43 in the game by Andreas Reniers from a close distance when the talented Wim Van Leempoel managed to make a qualified save. Velde's players were relieved. 46 minutes into the game, KFC Roeselare's Andreas Reniers nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wim Van Leempoel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jerome Severens to make the kick off. Henri-Patrick De Smet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. KFC Roeselare's Henri-Patrick De Smet got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gery Candries fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rik Peters having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, KFC Roeselare's goal looked a bit too open when Jerome Severens came free, but Rik Peters reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. KFC Roeselare were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Velde for a fine match.
