In the 12th minute Arend Ingelborchs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rens Goffyn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andrew Van Casteren didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brend Vounckx went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Andrew Van Casteren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willy Wollans, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Ian Walder took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andrew Van Casteren. Andrew Van Casteren dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. The supporters of BVB Dortmund booed when Saint-Amand was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arend Ingelborchs didn't get a good kick on the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Saint-Amand's goal looked a bit too open when Brend Vounckx came free, but Andrew Van Casteren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ian Walder kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Brend Vounckx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Andrew Van Casteren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half BVB Dortmund were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arend Ingelborchs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 61 minutes into the game, Yves Van Beetz threw the ball into play from the sideline. Saint-Amand's Teo Andries quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Wesley Bruyninckx struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Andrew Van Casteren didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for BVB Dortmund. Andrew Van Casteren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wayne Dekens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ian Walder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. BVB Dortmund's Willy Wollans got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Timmy De Maesschalck kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. In the 92nd minute Arend Ingelborchs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rens Goffyn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
