Lyra-Lierse's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Evert Van Laer was slow to take the kick. During this time Ciney's players had a chance to rest. Dieter Bormans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Jakob Elsen fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored K. Lyra-Lierse's protests and gave Jakob Elsen a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to K. Lyra-Lierse getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Jakob Elsen hit a great ball. Ciney's Evert Van Laer couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 25th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for K. Lyra-Lierse. Yvan van haeve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Henderickx having to interfere. With a little luck, Ciney's Frederic Theuniers got control of the ball when Dieter Bormans tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of K. Lyra-Lierse booed when Ciney was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cederic Soetemans didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience cheered when Cedric Dekeyser's long shot passed Frederic Theuniers's right side. It was 1-1, 37 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Ciney's Mattias Stessel got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lucas Steenbecks stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jonathan Henderickx took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yvan van haeve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. K. Lyra-Lierse's Jonathan Henderickx proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save K. Lyra-Lierse from getting a goal against them. A hard shot 60 in the game by Dyllen Van den Berghe from a close distance when the talented Jonathan Henderickx managed to make a qualified save. K. Lyra-Lierse's players were relieved. If Yvan van haeve had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. If Dyllen Van den Berghe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Ciney's Rik Weygaerts got a free kick in the 77th minute. After having played for 78 minutes, Lucas Steenbecks managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. K. Lyra-Lierse's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucas Steenbecks was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Frederic Theuniers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dieter Bormans, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. 85 minutes into the match, K. Lyra-Lierse's goal looked a bit too open when Yvan van haeve came free, but Jonathan Henderickx reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 87 played minutes Ciney got a freekick which was hit by Rik Weygaerts. When the final whistle sounded Ciney left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than K. Lyra-Lierse.
