When the match clock showed 28 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Jeff Goethuys sped through Zonnegem 's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Matty Justens. Helge Bergum didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Frederick Laporte went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-2 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frederick Laporte stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With 52 minutes on the clock, Andrez Vincke commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in The lizardmen fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 52nd minute. Penalty! Pierre Decaluwe missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 69 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Matty Justens right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in The lizardmen's zone, Michael Schautens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Helge Bergum came out of the goal and Michael Schautens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Teo Francken managed to get in a good position for a shot. The lizardmen's supporters rose to their feet, but Teo Francken was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matty Justens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
