Patrik Van Bever showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sylven Omblet in the 14th minute of the match. If Stein Van Beetz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patrik Van Bever took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sylven Omblet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sylven Omblet struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Patrik Van Bever didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RSC Gentbrugge. Philip Bruyninckxs short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Patrik Van Bever to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 34 minutes into the game, Sylven Omblet was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. RSC Gentbrugge's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Woumen the free kick. After a rather tough play, RSC Gentbrugge's Sylven Omblet got a free kick in the 34th minute. Maarten Roockeloos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Andy Switten tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. RSC Gentbrugge were awarded a corner in the 61th minute after Woumen's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lennart Van Beringen took the corner. After a defensive mix-up in RSC Gentbrugge's zone, Maarten Roockeloos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andy Switten came out of the goal and Maarten Roockeloos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The RSC Gentbrugge players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
