Frederik Fouquet's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andreas Hairpoel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. If Karel-Jan Pelsers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Elias Van Engelen fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored RSC Anderlecht's protests and gave Elias Van Engelen a yellow card for diving instead. When Karel-Jan Pelsers came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the KV Kachtem fans jumped to their feet. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilles Hollandts prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kristen Goemyne hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. In the 86th match minute, KV Kachtem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kristen Goemyne to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute of the match, Kristen Goemyne tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gilles Hollandts saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 91st minute Robrecht De Schutter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilles Hollandts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the KV Kachtem players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
