Reinard Fabry took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 25th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tommy Swinnen. KAA Bande's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Youri Decock hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. KAA Bande's Giovanni Soens got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 36 minutes into the game, Herne's Rocky Decoster nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommy Swinnen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After having played for 39 minutes, Rocky Decoster managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Herne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rocky Decoster was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Herne were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jarno Verheugen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tommy Swinnen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jarno Verheugen in the 51st minute of play. After a rather tough play, KAA Bande's Marc Roockeloos got a free kick in the 53rd minute. With a little luck, KAA Bande's Tommy Swinnen got control of the ball when Rocky Decoster tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jarno Verheugen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Swinnen having to interfere. When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Joannes Van Eyck sped through Herne's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Artuur Luytens. Joannes Van Eyck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Artuur Luytens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After recieving a nice pass, KAA Bande's Guillaume Smet tried to score from far away in the 86th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The supporters of KAA Bande booed when Herne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregory Tubbackx didn't get a good kick on the ball. Herne's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
