Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Ernest Teunens stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sebbe Van Linthoudt's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. If Luka Vrijdags had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ief De Scheper got free with Ernest Teunens in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In a very dangerous position, a player in FC Sint-Truiden fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 32nd minute. Penalty! Ernest Teunens made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ief De Scheper in the 38th minute. Louis-Philippe Van Leemputt charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebbe Van Linthoudt was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, FC Sint-Truiden's Ief De Scheper nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ernest Teunens made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 59th minute, Ief De Scheper got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 63rdth minute of the game Sebbe Van Linthoudt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Pouri's Ernest Teunens was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 65 minutes, Ief De Scheper managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Sint-Truiden's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ief De Scheper was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of FC Sint-Truiden booed when FC Pouri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joerie Van de Velde didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ernest Teunens stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sebbe Van Linthoudt's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. FC Sint-Truiden's Ief De Scheper got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in FC Pouri's zone, Sebbe Van Linthoudt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernest Teunens came out of the goal and Sebbe Van Linthoudt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 76th minute, Ief De Scheper left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Sint-Truiden fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. 81 minutes into the match, FC Pouri's goal looked a bit too open when Sebbe Van Linthoudt came free, but Ernest Teunens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 82nd match minute, FC Pouri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joerie Van de Velde to maneuver through the defense. Sebbe Van Linthoudt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Ernest Teunens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sebbe Van Linthoudt in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ernest Teunens saved FC Pouri from getting behind. When FC Sint-Truiden's Sebbe Van Linthoudt in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Pouri's goalie prevented a goal. FC Sint-Truiden walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
