After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Sebbe Van Linthoudt managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Sint-Truiden's supporters rose to their feet, but Sebbe Van Linthoudt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricky Wyns breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to FC Sint-Truiden getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Rudi Docx hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rudi Docx during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lennart Verengen came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by KAA Nismes's Jorne De Backer. But to his dismay, Jorne De Backer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guust Van Eyke in the 31st minute of play forced FC Sint-Truiden's goalkeeper Lennart Verengen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute, Abel Keuppens got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When KAA Nismes's Guust Van Eyke, in the 34th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for KAA Nismes. Abel Libreghts could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Ricky Wyns made a huge save. After a rather tough play, KAA Nismes's Ronny Enfant got a free kick in the 39th minute. 40 minutes into the match, FC Sint-Truiden's Raymond Van De Wyngaert broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebbe Van Linthoudt was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abel Libreghts in the 59th minute of play forced KAA Nismes's goalkeeper Ricky Wyns to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lennart Verengen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 70 played minutes KAA Nismes got a freekick which was hit by Eric Candries. 72 minutes into the match, KAA Nismes's goal looked a bit too open when Abel Libreghts came free, but Ricky Wyns reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 79 played minutes KAA Nismes got a freekick which was hit by Max Pelsmaeker. When FC Sint-Truiden's Abel Libreghts in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye KAA Nismes's goalie prevented a goal. Jorne De Backer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lennart Verengen having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guust Van Eyke got free with Lennart Verengen in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 95 minutes into the match, FC Sint-Truiden's goalkeeper Lennart Verengen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Guust Van Eyke.
