In the 6th match minute, Wetteren was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francois Martens to maneuver through the defense. KAA Hombeek's Thibau Wijnants got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sylven de Vleeschouwer charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sylven de Vleeschouwer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 14 played minutes KAA Hombeek got a freekick which was hit by Sylven de Vleeschouwer. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Karel-Jan Scheppers sped through Wetteren's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Paulus De Raedemaeker. Loid Van de Weijer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steve Langendonck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs having to interfere. Thibau Wijnants received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Paulus De Raedemaeker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulus De Raedemaeker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Van Hoeijveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. If Lars Van Hoeijveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Loid Van de Weijer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Thibau Wijnants to strike the kick off in the second half. Robby Van Haechten might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Robby Van Haechten ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Loid Van de Weijer in the 56th minute of play forced KAA Hombeek's goalkeeper Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Loid Van de Weijer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steve Langendonck in the 63rd minute of play forced KAA Hombeek's goalkeeper Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thibau Wijnants received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Paulus De Raedemaeker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 69th minute Thibau Wijnants shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulus De Raedemaeker saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Loid Van de Weijer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wetteren's supporters rose to their feet, but Loid Van de Weijer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Wetteren's Paulus De Raedemaeker got control of the ball when Lars Van Hoeijveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Bart Van Leemputten fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wetteren's protests and gave Bart Van Leemputten a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of KAA Hombeek booed when Wetteren was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bart Van Leemputten didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 100 minutes, Loid Van de Weijer made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. KAA Hombeek's Pieter-Maarten Huijbregs tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. KAA Hombeek's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
