The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Robben Baeyens recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Johan Weygaerts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Remie Van Deuren struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Michael Van Landeghem didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for De Panne. In the 13th minute of the match Loui de Reyck sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Michael Van Landeghem skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sheffield Tuesday's zone, Remie Van Deuren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michael Van Landeghem came out of the goal and Remie Van Deuren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 17th minute Remie Van Deuren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Van Landeghem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Robben Baeyens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michael Van Landeghem having to interfere. Robben Baeyens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Michael Van Landeghem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeremy De Neuter kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After taking down the ball on De Panne's corner Wannes Cortens fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Michael Van Landeghem quite easily take care of the ball. Sheffield Tuesday's Michael Van Landeghem played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remie Van Deuren in the 30th minute of play. In the 34th match minute, Sheffield Tuesday was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kieth Neys to maneuver through the defense. In the 35th minute, Wannes Cortens sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Sheffield Tuesday's Michael Van Landeghem didn't even have to move. Robben Baeyens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Michael Van Landeghem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Remie Van Deuren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Floris Nys came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Sheffield Tuesday fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Floris Nys couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Floris Nys to make the kick off. Robben Baeyens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Michael Van Landeghem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Robben Baeyens recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Michael Van Landeghem stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Remie Van Deuren's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Michael Van Landeghem showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robben Baeyens, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 69th match minute, Sheffield Tuesday was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeremy De Neuter to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Floris Nys managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sheffield Tuesday's supporters rose to their feet, but Floris Nys was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luc Tailleur breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Michael Van Landeghem took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robben Baeyens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kieth Neys kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Robben Baeyens struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Michael Van Landeghem didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for De Panne. In the 79th minute, Remie Van Deuren ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Michael Van Landeghem was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Johan Weygaerts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Remie Van Deuren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Michael Van Landeghem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Robben Baeyens took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Michael Van Landeghem. Michael Van Landeghem dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. De Panne fully deserved thier win.
