The Zerkegem fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Wilfried De Smet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maxime Decorte having to interfere. Josef Van Clijnebreugel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Mateo Maertens made a huge save. The supporters of Kawitras booed when Zerkegem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amaury Helsen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Yens Tael's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mateo Maertens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Zerkegem's goalkeeper Mateo Maertens, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Maxime Decorte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilfried De Smet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maxime Decorte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilfried De Smet in the 35th minute of the match. Josef Van Clijnebreugel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mateo Maertens having to interfere. In the 43rd minute Ryan Rutgeerts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mateo Maertens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Kawitras's Josef Van Clijnebreugel fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Josef Van Clijnebreugel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Zerkegem were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ryan Rutgeerts to strike the kick off in the second half. Ryan Rutgeerts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ryan Rutgeerts might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mateo Maertens. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. After 69 minutes, Gilbert Dheedene mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zerkegem and the Kawitras players grew even worse after the yellow card. 72 minutes into the match, Zerkegem's goal looked a bit too open when Ryan Rutgeerts came free, but Mateo Maertens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ryan Rutgeerts in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mateo Maertens saved Zerkegem from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Franky Van Dijcke during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Franky Van Dijcke hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. If Wilfried De Smet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ryan Rutgeerts took the ball and in the 99 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mateo Maertens. Mateo Maertens dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Zerkegem's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
