Mitch Cuejvers started the match with the kick off. Stephan De Meulder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacques Gooris, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. The supporters of aru q united booed when KMSK DEINZE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oswald Worteler didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomm Van Den Abeele in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stephan De Meulder saved KMSK DEINZE from getting behind. KMSK DEINZE's Stephan De Meulder played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacques Gooris in the 17th minute of play. Jacques Gooris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mitch Cuejvers struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Karel Coosemans didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KMSK DEINZE. Eddy Smekens might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Karel Coosemans. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eddy Smekens ran back to his position shaking his head. Tomm Van Den Abeele's late challenge caught a KMSK DEINZE's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomm Van Den Abeele helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, aru q united's Tomm Van Den Abeele got a free kick in the 40th minute. When Eddy Smekens came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the KMSK DEINZE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eddy Smekens couldn't finish the play. In the 45th minute, Tomm Van Den Abeele hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Mitch Cuejvers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jacques Gooris struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Stephan De Meulder didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for aru q united. Karel Coosemans took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eddy Smekens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 66th minute Mitch Cuejvers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karel Coosemans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eddy Smekens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paul-Louis Gijselinkx during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Karel Coosemans didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mitch Cuejvers went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 81st minute, Tomm Van Den Abeele reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Stephan De Meulder. The goal made the score 1-1. Eddy Smekens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karel Coosemans having to interfere. 91 minutes into the match, KMSK DEINZE's goal looked a bit too open when Tomm Van Den Abeele came free, but Stephan De Meulder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
