Quillian Rouvoet came out of the goal and Andries Waterloos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 16 minutes into the match, Molenbeek-Wersbeek's goal looked a bit too open when Timothy Dirickx came free, but Douglas Van Ghele reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brend Bernaerts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Quillian Rouvoet having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Brend Bernaerts's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Quillian Rouvoet was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Roland Schrevens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Douglas Van Ghele made a huge save. Tibo De Wilde charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tibo De Wilde the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 38th minute, Roland Schrevens left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The cercle brugge fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0.

The wind increased when Brend Bernaerts made the kick off in the second half. Pierre-Olivier de Neuyter kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Douglas Van Ghele showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roland Schrevens, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Gill Wery sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 69th minute, Brend Bernaerts got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 72nd minute of the match Victor Koenens shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Douglas Van Ghele showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 74th minute, Victor Koenens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Andries Waterloos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Quillian Rouvoet. cercle brugge's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brend Bernaerts in the 82nd minute of play forced cercle brugge's goalkeeper Quillian Rouvoet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roland Schrevens in the 88th minute of play forced Molenbeek-Wersbeek's goalkeeper Douglas Van Ghele to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Brend Bernaerts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raf Gysemans hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Andries Waterloos missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 96 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Quillian Rouvoet right hand side.
