After a defensive mix-up in cercle brugge's zone, Mehmet Ferit İltemur stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Quillian Rouvoet came out of the goal and Mehmet Ferit İltemur tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Roland Schrevens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Lennart Herinckx made a huge save. Lennart Herinckx showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timothy Dirickx, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. If Ryan Van Steen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th match minute, cercle brugge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victor Koenens to maneuver through the defense. Mehmet Ferit İltemur sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Quillian Rouvoet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mehmet Ferit İltemur, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, KFC Gijzegem's Manu Van Craesbeeck got a free kick in the 86th minute. Quillian Rouvoet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mehmet Ferit İltemur in the 90th minute of play. cercle brugge were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
