But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christoff Grootjans couldn't finish the play. Ramon Pelsmaeckers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Billie Quintens having to interfere. When Werner Luijten was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 44 minutes had been played. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bill Daneels was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 62 minutes, Christoff Grootjans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Woud's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christoff Grootjans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ramon Pelsmaeckers held his arms out in dispair when he, after a nice solo performance in the 69th minute, finished the attack by shooting the ball on the wrong side of the right post. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Billie Quintens successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Christoff Grootjans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
