Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Harry Cox kicked off to start the match. The supporters of Thildonk booed when FC Assenede was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mitch de Pelsmaeker didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Vic De Kerper managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thildonk's supporters rose to their feet, but Vic De Kerper was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gunther Hulsen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gilbert Uijterhove's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 8thth minute, Frederick Deswarte skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Gilbert Uijterhove could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Frederick Deswarte made a huge save. Mitch de Pelsmaeker's late challenge caught a Thildonk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mitch de Pelsmaeker helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Staf Reuters in the 13th minute of play forced FC Assenede's goalkeeper Gunther Hulsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute Staf Reuters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gunther Hulsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, FC Assenede's Joey Abeloos got a free kick in the 19th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Thildonk's zone, Gilbert Uijterhove stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frederick Deswarte came out of the goal and Gilbert Uijterhove tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilbert Uijterhove took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Frederick Deswarte. Frederick Deswarte dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Staf Reuters in the 29th minute of play forced FC Assenede's goalkeeper Gunther Hulsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute, Harry Cox reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Frederick Deswarte. The goal made the score 2-0. In the 42nd minute, Ernst Klijnhens made a precise shot to the right of Gunther Hulsen. FC Assenede's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Brent-Jan Decorte during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Brent-Jan Decorte kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The wind increased when Staf Reuters made the kick off in the second half. Gunther Hulsen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vic De Kerper in the 53rd minute. Joey Abeloos kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Gunther Hulsen was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Yoachim Neefs. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilbert Uijterhove in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Frederick Deswarte saved Thildonk from getting behind. Vic De Kerper received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Gunther Hulsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Frederick Deswarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilbert Uijterhove, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 67 minutes into the match, Thildonk's goal looked a bit too open when Gilbert Uijterhove came free, but Frederick Deswarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 68th play minutes Harry Cox shot 3-1, a short shot which went by Frederick Deswarte and just under the crossbar into goal. Joey Abeloos kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Thildonk were awarded a corner in the 80th minute after FC Assenede's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Yoachim Neefs took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Yoachim Neefs got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gunther Hulsen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a defensive mix-up in Thildonk's zone, Gilbert Uijterhove stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frederick Deswarte came out of the goal and Gilbert Uijterhove tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 84 minutes, Harry Cox managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Assenede's supporters crossed their fingers, but Harry Cox was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 86 minutes, Gunther Hulsen successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Vic De Kerper's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 87thth minute, Gunther Hulsen skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 89th match minute, Thildonk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferdinand Wollans to maneuver through the defense. Vic De Kerper struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Gunther Hulsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Thildonk. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FC Assenede fans cheered their team off the field, for while Thildonk had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
