Spectators: 6752 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1752, VIP seats: 0) KV Malines's Willem-Jan Van de Gaer started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Willem-Jan Van de Gaer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Diederick Heijligem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Willem-Jan Van de Gaer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brent Denijs hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Gert Roekeloos struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Diederick Heijligem didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KV Malines. If Rob Zimmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, KV Malines's goalkeeper Lex De Maerschalckx had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rob Zimmer. In the 22nd minute, Steven Van Cleijnenbreughel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 25thth minute of the game Gert Roekeloos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tessenderlo's Diederick Heijligem was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to KV Malines getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Jan-Joost Conincx hit a great ball. Rob Zimmer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Lex De Maerschalckx tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gert Roekeloos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diederick Heijligem having to interfere. Gert Roekeloos's late challenge caught a Tessenderlo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gert Roekeloos helped the player get up and apologised. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Steven Van Cleijnenbreughel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tessenderlo's supporters rose to their feet, but Steven Van Cleijnenbreughel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lex De Maerschalckx breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lex De Maerschalckx took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rob Zimmer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rob Zimmer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Lex De Maerschalckx tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rob Zimmer was the one to do the kick off. Willem-Jan Van de Gaer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Diederick Heijligem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute of the match, Willem-Jan Van de Gaer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Diederick Heijligem saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 60th minute, Brent Denijs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Willem-Jan Van de Gaer managed to get in a good position for a shot. KV Malines's supporters rose to their feet, but Willem-Jan Van de Gaer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Diederick Heijligem breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 65 minutes into the game, Tessenderlo's Steven Van Cleijnenbreughel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lex De Maerschalckx made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Gert Roekeloos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diederick Heijligem having to interfere. In the 81st minute Willem-Jan Van de Gaer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diederick Heijligem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diederick Heijligem came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by KV Malines's Willem-Jan Van de Gaer. But to his dismay, Willem-Jan Van de Gaer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Steven Van Cleijnenbreughel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lex De Maerschalckx showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steven Van Cleijnenbreughel, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steven Van Cleijnenbreughel in the 96th minute of play forced KV Malines's goalkeeper Lex De Maerschalckx to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
