FC Barcelona's Albertus Neirynck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vince Huyghebaert in the 14th minute of play. Mario Van den Haute who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Pierre Cremers when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Pierre Cremers was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind K.K.A. Gent's goalkeeper Pierre Cremers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

The wind increased when Vince Huyghebaert made the kick off in the second half. Mario Van den Haute blasted a shot towards the goal in the 50th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pierre Cremers having to make a save. Joseph Smets fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pierre Cremers having to interfere. The supporters of FC Barcelona booed when K.K.A. Gent was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Janes Van De Look didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pierre Cremers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mario Van den Haute in the 56th minute of the match. When Arne Andries fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Barcelona's protests and gave Arne Andries a yellow card for diving instead. Arne Andries kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. In the 60th minute Joseph Smets shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pierre Cremers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pierre Cremers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joseph Smets, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Natan Adriaensens kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. After having played for 77 minutes, Joseph Smets managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Barcelona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joseph Smets was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mario Van den Haute sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Mario Van den Haute had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, K.K.A. Gent's Janes Van De Look got a free kick in the 88th minute. Camiel De Langhe took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pierre Cremers. K.K.A. Gent's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 90th match minute, K.K.A. Gent was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Janes Van De Look to maneuver through the defense. If Joseph Smets had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 93rd minute, Jacobus Koninkx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Barcelona's Camiel De Langhe couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 94th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for K.K.A. Gent. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Barcelona fully deserved thier win.
