A collision led to Tongeren Youth Academy getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Robrecht Seveneijns hit a great ball. Tran Hairpoel was out of position in the 25 minute of play, and Jacob Meeuwissen capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jacob Meeuwissen really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 29th minute Werner Van Hespen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaspar Smekens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of STVV booed when Tongeren Youth Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kim Sellekaers didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lieven Cuelens's shot from long distance in the 34th minute was not bad at all, but Tongeren Youth Academy's Tran Hairpoel knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. When Maurice Balthazar came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Tongeren Youth Academy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maurice Balthazar couldn't finish the play. After 45 minutes, Maurice Balthazar made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. STVV's Jaspar Smekens tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.

After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Jacob Meeuwissen managed to get in a good position for a shot. STVV's supporters rose to their feet, but Jacob Meeuwissen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tran Hairpoel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vicente Van Malcot during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in STVV's zone, Maurice Balthazar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaspar Smekens came out of the goal and Maurice Balthazar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jacob Meeuwissen might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tran Hairpoel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jacob Meeuwissen ran back to his position shaking his head. Tran Hairpoel came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by STVV's Jacob Meeuwissen. But to his dismay, Jacob Meeuwissen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Tongeren Youth Academy's Nestor Sens shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 83rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Jaspar Smekens but with some difficulty. In the 85th minute, Jacob Meeuwissen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The STVV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. STVV's Vicente Van Malcot suffered a sore thigh after 90 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Kim Sellekaers's late challenge caught a STVV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kim Sellekaers helped the player get up and apologised. After 91 played minutes Tongeren Youth Academy got a freekick which was hit by Kim Sellekaers. After a rather tough play, STVV's Lieven Cuelens got a free kick in the 94th minute. STVV's Jaspar Smekens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save STVV from getting a goal against them.
