Germinal Beershot's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The supporters of X-Sjans booed when Germinal Beershot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rocky Van den Berge didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Germinal Beershot's goalkeeper Frans De Wever, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Timy Goolen might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Frans De Wever. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Timy Goolen ran back to his position shaking his head. Giovanni Leenders came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Germinal Beershot's Daan Van De Wijngaert. But to his dismay, Daan Van De Wijngaert quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. If Timy Goolen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Giovanni Leenders made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daan Van De Wijngaert in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute of the match, Robbe Van den Inde tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Frans De Wever saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. X-Sjans's Giovanni Leenders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daan Van De Wijngaert in the 37th minute of play. Daan Van De Wijngaert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in X-Sjans's zone, Luke Van Aerschodt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giovanni Leenders came out of the goal and Luke Van Aerschodt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Timy Goolen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Frans De Wever having to make a save. After 46 played minutes Germinal Beershot got a freekick which was hit by Guy Konings. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luke Van Aerschodt was the one to do the kick off. Robbe Van den Inde received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Frans De Wever tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Robbe Van den Inde sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Ivan Enskens fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored X-Sjans's protests and gave Ivan Enskens a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd match minute, X-Sjans was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan Enskens to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luke Van Aerschodt in the 69th minute of play forced X-Sjans's goalkeeper Giovanni Leenders to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 82 minutes into the match, X-Sjans's goal looked a bit too open when Luke Van Aerschodt came free, but Giovanni Leenders reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Giovanni Leenders stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luke Van Aerschodt's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. When Robbe Van den Inde came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the X-Sjans fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robbe Van den Inde couldn't finish the play. If Timy Goolen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frans De Wever stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Timy Goolen's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. In the 91st minute, X-Sjans's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daan Van De Wijngaert fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Germinal Beershot's Daan Van De Wijngaert got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 95th minute, Luke Van Aerschodt reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Giovanni Leenders. The goal made the score 1-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Germinal Beershot eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
