AÇO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sylvan Vergouwen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 38th minute of the match Paul-Louis Cesters sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Francis Eijkens skillfully saved the ball. After a rather tough play, Rastafari's Klaus Jooris got a free kick in the 40th minute. Francis Eijkens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viktor Vansteenbrugge in the 43rd minute of play. Viktor Vansteenbrugge's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Francis Eijkens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. Frederic De Keuster made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Hannes Pelegrims sent off a good shot on target.

The wind increased when Viktor Vansteenbrugge made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brent Soetemans in the 54th minute of play forced Rastafari's goalkeeper Francis Eijkens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Klaus Jooris hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. If Hannes Pelegrims had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
