After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Diego Breugelmans managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sparta Waarschoot's supporters rose to their feet, but Diego Breugelmans was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henrik Claessens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kurt De Kepper got free with George De Fever in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guy Van Haght in the 14th minute of play forced FC Geenske's goalkeeper Henrik Claessens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Diego Breugelmans sped through FC Geenske's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Henrik Claessens. Sparta Waarschoot's defense didn't have a chance, in the 26th minute, when Gaetan De Meulder scored to the left of an out of position George De Fever, making the score, 1-1. Kurt De Keppers short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got George De Fever to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Guy Van Haght struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Henrik Claessens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sparta Waarschoot. 36 minutes into the match, Sparta Waarschoot's Guy Van Haght sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Henrik Claessens narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in FC Geenske's zone, Diego Breugelmans stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henrik Claessens came out of the goal and Diego Breugelmans tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lander Van Craesbeeck was the one to do the kick off. If Ruud Hemeleers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Sparta Waarschoot getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Lode Elssen hit a great ball. Diego Breugelmans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Henrik Claessens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guy Van Haght fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henrik Claessens having to interfere. Henrik Claessens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Breugelmans, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. George De Fever stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kurt De Kepper's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. Kurt De Kepper received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. George De Fever tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, Sparta Waarschoot's goal looked a bit too open when Kurt De Kepper came free, but George De Fever reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Diego Breugelmans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Diego Breugelmans was extremely unlucky when he, in the 85th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Henrik Claessens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guy Van Haght in the 87th minute of the match. Diego Breugelmans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 92 minutes into the match, Guy Van Haght notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of FC Geenske's Henrik Claessens. Henrik Claessens was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ludo Wegers charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ludo Wegers the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Sparta Waarschoot's Ludo Wegers got a free kick in the 97th minute.
