Spectators: 7563 (Terracing: 5673, Seating: 1739, VIP seats: 151) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jorg Van Dongel got the match started through his kick off. Freddy Wyns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Max Caers in the 6th minute of play. Max Caers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Freddy Wyns tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kristof Van den Broeck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorg Van Dongel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sporting Lokeren's Kristof Van den Broeck proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Lokeren from getting a goal against them. In the 14th minute, Gwenn Roukeloes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jorg Van Dongel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Kristof Van den Broeck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Sporting Lokeren's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jorg Van Dongel fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Harold Calstermans recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Jorg Van Dongel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kristof Van den Broeck made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Gwenn Roukeloes sent off a good shot on target. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting Lokeren's goalkeeper Kristof Van den Broeck, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Harold Calstermans's late challenge caught a Sporting Lokeren's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Harold Calstermans helped the player get up and apologised. After 37 played minutes Kv.Mechelen got a freekick which was hit by Harold Calstermans. Max Caers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Wyns having to interfere. The supporters of Sporting Lokeren booed when Kv.Mechelen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebbe Vergouwen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jorg Van Dongel struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Kristof Van den Broeck didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kv.Mechelen. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Max Caers stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Sporting Lokeren booed when Kv.Mechelen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jesse Blomme didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 60 minutes, Jorg Van Dongel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kv.Mechelen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorg Van Dongel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 63 minutes into the game, Billie Montens was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting Lokeren's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kv.Mechelen the free kick. In the 63rd minute, Billie Montens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 65 played minutes Sporting Lokeren got a freekick which was hit by Dominik Dhondt. If Gwenn Roukeloes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorg Van Dongel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kristof Van den Broeck having to interfere. 70 minutes into the game, one of Sporting Lokeren:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 72nd minute, Antonio Van Gorp made a precise shot to the right of Kristof Van den Broeck. Sporting Lokeren's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Kv.Mechelen's Freddy Wyns played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Max Caers in the 80th minute of play. Kristof Van den Broeck didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gwenn Roukeloes went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Max Caers received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Freddy Wyns came out and tried to block the shot, but Max Caers slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 88th minute. Freddy Wyns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Max Caers, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Kv.Mechelen fully deserved thier win.
