With a little luck, RFC Tournai's Remi Van Hamme got control of the ball when Bernard Goffeyn tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Bjorn Himschoot managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wontergem's supporters rose to their feet, but Bjorn Himschoot was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Remi Van Hamme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wilfried Rauvoets fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harald Cuppens having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Bernard Goffeyn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 26thth minute of the game Bjorn Himschoot who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but RFC Tournai's Remi Van Hamme was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bernard Goffeyn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remi Van Hamme having to interfere. Bernard Goffeyn could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Remi Van Hamme made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Wontergem's Jacky Willems got a free kick in the 36th minute. Bjorn Himschoot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remi Van Hamme having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in RFC Tournai's zone, Bernard Goffeyn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Remi Van Hamme came out of the goal and Bernard Goffeyn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Bjorn Himschoot came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Wontergem fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bjorn Himschoot couldn't finish the play. Wontergem's Bernard Goffeyn got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bjorn Himschoot made a kick off. After having played for 57 minutes, Bernard Goffeyn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wontergem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernard Goffeyn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bernard Goffeyn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remi Van Hamme having to interfere. Bernard Goffeyn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bjorn Himschoot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Remi Van Hamme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilfried Rauvoets fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harald Cuppens having to interfere. Remi Van Hamme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernard Goffeyn in the 91st minute of the match. Bernard Goffeyn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
