With a couple of smart ball manuevers Yanick Wuets in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Billie Van der Roost saved De Fenix boys from getting behind. After a rather tough play, De Fenix boys's Gunter Van Linthaudt got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 11th minute of the match Dries Roose sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Billie Van der Roost skillfully saved the ball. When Xavier Van Meensel fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club brugge's protests and gave Xavier Van Meensel a yellow card for diving instead. After 14 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Club brugge! Diederik Van Maestricht walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Ruud Helsen kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gust Van der Borght in the 27th minute of play forced De Fenix boys's goalkeeper Billie Van der Roost to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th match minute, Club brugge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joerie Van haeck to maneuver through the defense. In the 30th minute, Pierre-Olivier Degryse got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. George De nuijter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pierre-Olivier Degryse in the 41st minute of the match. Ruud Helsen charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ruud Helsen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 42 played minutes De Fenix boys got a freekick which was hit by Ruud Helsen. Yanick Wuets sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fernand de Pelsmaker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gust Van der Borght stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Ruud Helsen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but George De nuijter was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Club brugge's Yanick Wuets got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kieth Coopmans blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without George De nuijter having to make a save. The supporters of De Fenix boys booed when Club brugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joerie Van haeck didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute of the match Diederik Van Maestricht sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but George De nuijter skillfully saved the ball. George De nuijter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pierre-Olivier Degryse, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gust Van der Borght in the 90th minute of play forced De Fenix boys's goalkeeper Billie Van der Roost to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fernand de Pelsmaker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George De nuijter having to interfere. Club brugge's George De nuijter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pierre-Olivier Degryse in the 97th minute of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
