In the 10th minute, one of FC Diest:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC Diest. In the 18th match minute, Borussia Merkezeel 1925 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Karel-Jan Wijgaert to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Borussia Merkezeel 1925's Jerom Caes got control of the ball when Andris Bollaert tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nico Maerschalckx struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Jerom Caes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Diest. Andris Bollaerts short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Jerom Caes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luke Rouvroye during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 30 played minutes Borussia Merkezeel 1925 got a freekick which was hit by Luke Rouvroye. In the 41st minute, Andris Bollaert made a precise shot to the right of Jerom Caes. Borussia Merkezeel 1925's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Jerom Caes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guy Vrolijcx went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guy Vrolijcx was the one to do the kick off. If Guy Vrolijcx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jerom Caes came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Diest's Guy Vrolijcx. But to his dismay, Guy Vrolijcx quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. In the 59th minute Guy Vrolijcx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerom Caes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andris Bollaert blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jerom Caes having to make a save. In the 62nd minute, Guy Vrolijcx left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Diest fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Guy Vrolijcx in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jerom Caes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Borussia Merkezeel 1925's zone, Andris Bollaert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jerom Caes came out of the goal and Andris Bollaert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jerom Caes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guy Vrolijcx in the 69th minute of the match. The supporters of FC Diest booed when Borussia Merkezeel 1925 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel De Leger didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that FC Diest were the better team. FC Diest's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
