The supporters of Bovenwezet booed when Eendracht Aalst was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maxime Van de Wal didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute, Bill Leclerq got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gilliam De Marrez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tony De Meesemaeckere showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeffrey Van Meerbek in the 51st minute of the match. In the 54th minute, Gilliam De Marrez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cederik Clijsters breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Bovenwezet's goalkeeper Cederik Clijsters, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bill Leclerq's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cederik Clijsters read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. Henri-Patrick Van Poucke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cederik Clijsters having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Eendracht Aalst fans cheered their team off the field, for while Bovenwezet had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
