Wakkerzeel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Weynants was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 44 played minutes Wakkerzeel got a freekick which was hit by Ben Sannen. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

With his leg Jeffery Valkeneers managed to avoid a goal in the 74thth minute, when Cruzeiro EC's Rob Vanden Bossche fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Rob Vanden Bossche recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Wakkerzeel getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Etienne Gysens hit a great ball. The supporters of Wakkerzeel booed when Cruzeiro EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henri Van hoegaerde didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Wakkerzeel fans' excitement grew in the 81st match minute when Wakkerzeel's Sebastian Weynants looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Jorge Vuerinx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ben Sannen's late challenge caught a Cruzeiro EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ben Sannen helped the player get up and apologised. In the 93rd minute, Ben Sannen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 96 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro EC's Rob Vanden Bossche sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jeffery Valkeneers narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Wakkerzeel succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Cruzeiro EC had controlled the match.
