After a defensive mix-up in Singelberg FC's zone, Jorge Vuerinx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dean Claes came out of the goal and Jorge Vuerinx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 22 minutes, Jorge Vuerinx managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cruzeiro EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorge Vuerinx was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 25th minute, Jorge Vuerinx got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stefaan Ceroux to make the kick off. Cruzeiro EC's Jorge Vuerinx was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 55th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 60th minute, Stefaan Ceroux hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rob Vanden Bossche could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Dean Claes made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Jordi Geerts's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dean Claes was relentless in the 65th minute of the game.
