The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 13 minutes into the game, Achilles den Ronden cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jeremie Verheijd was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 16 played minutes Richy Vandamme rounded Nickopolis's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Achilles den Ronden in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jeremie Verheijd prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fred De Middeleer who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 27thth minute tested the skills of Sean Volders when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Sean Volders took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geoffrey Dhondt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Remi Paelinck charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Remi Paelinck the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to FC Golden Storm getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Remi Paelinck hit a great ball. Fred De Middeleer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Sean Volders made a huge save. After 40 played minutes Nickopolis got a freekick which was hit by Stijn Verduin. Fred De Middeleer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Sean Volders tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 48th minute by Fred De Middeleer got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Werner Cempeners hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maurus Degens got free with Jeremie Verheijd in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, FC Golden Storm's Mike Ourogge got a free kick in the 59th minute. Nickopolis's Achilles den Ronden got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 71 minutes into the match, FC Golden Storm's Geoffrey Dhondt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sean Volders narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rajmond Maerschalk kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Sean Volders took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geoffrey Dhondt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sean Volders showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geoffrey Dhondt, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Nickopolis's Sean Volders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geoffrey Dhondt in the 78th minute of play. FC Golden Storm's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
