Thomas Van Hinnendaels helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Halvedreet booed when KAA Bautersem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thomas Van Hinnendaels didn't get a good kick on the ball. 11 minutes into the game, Bryan Kerkhofs was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Halvedreet's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave KAA Bautersem the free kick. Werner Denijs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bruno Van Clijnenbreugel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 17 minutes, Sebastien Van Deuren mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KAA Bautersem and the Halvedreet players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to KAA Bautersem getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Sebastien Van Deuren hit a great ball. In the 23rd minute, Halvedreet's Xander Wegers seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Xander Wegers the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Halvedreet protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Xander Wegers had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Justus in the 26th minute of play forced Halvedreet's goalkeeper Laurent Lanckneus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 28 minutes into the game, KAA Bautersem's Edgard Justus nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Laurent Lanckneus made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Ernest van Haghten made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Bruno Van Clijnenbreugel sent off a good shot on target. Ernest van Haghten made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gill Swings in the 47th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Edgard Justus made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the game, one of Halvedreet:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Fredrik Blommaert shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Bruno Van Clijnenbreugel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ernest van Haghten having to make a save. Werner Denijs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurent Lanckneus having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Edgard Justus put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Laurent Lanckneus. Werner Denijs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Laurent Lanckneus read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. If Bruno Van Clijnenbreugel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gill Swings received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Ernest van Haghten tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Van Clijnenbreugel in the 74th minute of play forced KAA Bautersem's goalkeeper Ernest van Haghten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgard Justus couldn't finish the play. When Thomas Van Hinnendaels was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 86 minutes had been played. Bernd Joostens kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Werner Denijs got free with Laurent Lanckneus in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 90 minutes into the game, KAA Bautersem's Andrew Wilmots nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Laurent Lanckneus made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. If Bruno Van Clijnenbreugel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Halvedreet's zone, Werner Denijs stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laurent Lanckneus came out of the goal and Werner Denijs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andrew Wilmots struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Laurent Lanckneus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KAA Bautersem. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. KAA Bautersem had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
