The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 36 played minutes eskeren got a freekick which was hit by Jeremie Terhorst. Jeff Van Bockorst made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Marcus Du Bois sent off a good shot on target. Arnold Bormans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcus Du Bois received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Jeff Van Bockorst tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. RC Mechelen's Dany-Adams Van den Haute played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeremie Terhorst in the 43rd minute of play. Marcus Du Bois could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Jeff Van Bockorst made a huge save. The supporters of RC Mechelen booed when eskeren was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teun Omblets didn't get a good kick on the ball.

RC Mechelen's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Roben Omblets in the 62nd minute. The corner ended in Roben Omblets almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but eskeren's Jeff Van Bockorst did a great save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeremie Terhorst got free with Dany-Adams Van den Haute in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 71 minutes, Arnold Bormans made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. eskeren's Jeff Van Bockorst tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 77th match minute, eskeren was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edwin Dillemans to maneuver through the defense. If Arnold Bormans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnaud Van Kamp was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 82 minutes into the match. In the 84th minute there was a penalty for eskeren. Jeff Van Bockorst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Du Bois in the 90th minute of play. Marcus Du Bois might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jeff Van Bockorst. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcus Du Bois ran back to his position shaking his head. Marcus Du Bois fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeff Van Bockorst having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the RC Mechelen players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
