Arnold Bormans started the match with the kick off. After 3 played minutes KV Chiro got a freekick which was hit by Nicolas Hemberg. Dany-Adams Van den Haute took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan-Pieter Tijs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcus Du Bois fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefaan Van den Driesch having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Arnold Bormans's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stefaan Van den Driesch was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Arnold Bormans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Stefaan Van den Driesch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dany-Adams Van den Haute made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tim-Jan Wirinckx in the 21st minute of play. Dany-Adams Van den Haute showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan-Pieter Tijs in the 24th minute of the match. If Marcus Du Bois had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute, Wart de Neys hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dany-Adams Van den Haute showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johny Van Hove in the 33rd minute of the match. Marcus Du Bois was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 36th minute. RC Mechelen's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 39 minutes into the match, RC Mechelen's Marcus Du Bois sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stefaan Van den Driesch narrowly saved just below the crossbar. KV Chiro's defense didn't have a chance, in the 42nd minute, when Arnold Bormans scored to the left of an out of position Stefaan Van den Driesch, making the score, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tim-Jan Wirinckx to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Tim-Jan Wirinckx dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dany-Adams Van den Haute, 1-1. 56 minutes into the match, KV Chiro's goal looked a bit too open when Arnold Bormans came free, but Stefaan Van den Driesch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stefaan Van den Driesch didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Arnold Bormans went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnold Bormans in the 71st minute of play forced KV Chiro's goalkeeper Stefaan Van den Driesch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 77th minute, Arnold Bormans got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Arnaud Van Kamp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 83 minutes, Arnold Bormans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RC Mechelen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnold Bormans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd minute Arnold Bormans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stefaan Van den Driesch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. RC Mechelen walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
