After a defensive mix-up in FC Meirliators's zone, Arend Van Geestel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carel van Eijnde came out of the goal and Arend Van Geestel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gert De Bruijn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Maurus Leempoels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arend Van Geestel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 16 minutes into the match, Deerlijk's Michael Preuveneer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carel van Eijnde narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Deerlijk's goalkeeper Maurus Leempoels, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfred De Raeijmaeker in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maurus Leempoels prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Arend Van Geestel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gert De Bruijn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurus Leempoels having to interfere. Alfred De Raeijmaeker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Michael Preuveneer kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Carel van Eijnde. That made the score 1-0 in the 38 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

51 minutes into the game, Arend Van Geestel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Carel van Eijnde was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Carel van Eijnde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Preuveneer in the 67th minute of play. Dave Kockaerts's shot from long distance in the 70th minute was not bad at all, but Deerlijk's Maurus Leempoels knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Deerlijk's Maurus Leempoels played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gert De Bruijn in the 76th minute of play. Alek Ruttens kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Deerlijk's Maurus Leempoels proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Deerlijk from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Deerlijk getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Max Van den Berch hit a great ball. Gert De Bruijn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurus Leempoels having to interfere. Carel van Eijnde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arend Van Geestel in the 91st minute of play. Arend Van Geestel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Arend Van Geestel, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 95 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Carel van Eijnde was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Deerlijk had won after a very even match.
