The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Andre La Rose dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Steff Van Boeckost, 1-0. In the 7th minute, Tibaut Alaerts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpected shot in the 13th minute by Harald Ryers got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Jacky Mallaerts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renzo De Maijer, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. After 24 played minutes HO Wolvertem-Merchtem got a freekick which was hit by Bart-Jan Montens. In the 25th minute Andre La Rose shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steff Van Boeckost saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, HO Wolvertem-Merchtem's Bart-Jan Montens got a free kick in the 29th minute. After having played for 33 minutes, Mathis de Neutere managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Eegem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mathis de Neutere was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Sebbe Coryn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mathis de Neutere recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Andre La Rose sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Renzo De Maijer made the kick off in the second half. Steff Van Boeckost showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mathis de Neutere, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Mathis de Neutere sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Sebbe Coryn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Maarten Demarez charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. When Sebbe Coryn fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Eegem's protests and gave Sebbe Coryn a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Club Eegem's Sebbe Coryn got a free kick in the 63rd minute. When Sebbe Coryn was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 67 minutes had been played. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nicolaas Slaghmeulders got free with Jacky Mallaerts in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bart-Jan Montens hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. 73 minutes into the game, Club Eegem's Mathis de Neutere nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Steff Van Boeckost made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Club Eegem's Mathis de Neutere got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Renzo De Maijer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mathis de Neutere received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Steff Van Boeckost tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
