Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Yoeri Dauwen in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thomas-Jan Tilemans prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Franky Francx managed to get in a good position for a shot. AC Wetteren's supporters rose to their feet, but Franky Francx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thomas-Jan Tilemans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Robben Van Caenegem hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 16 minutes into the game, Simon Lefebre cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Yanne Liebrechts was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jesse Winnepennincx struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Yanne Liebrechts didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Velde. If Franky Francx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 30 minutes, Octave Dirickx mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Velde and the AC Wetteren players grew even worse after the yellow card. Simon Lefebre might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Yanne Liebrechts. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Simon Lefebre ran back to his position shaking his head. After the first half Velde were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jesse Winnepennincx to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in AC Wetteren's zone, Simon Lefebre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yanne Liebrechts came out of the goal and Simon Lefebre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 54 minutes into the match, Jesse Winnepennincx dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Yanne Liebrechts, 0-2. Yanne Liebrechts made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Marten Van Der Linden sent off a good shot on target. An unexpected shot in the 59th minute by Jesse Winnepennincx got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 60th minute, Jo Servrancx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Simon Lefebre sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th minute, Robben Van Caenegem hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 66th minute, Velde's Simon Lefebre ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Yanne Liebrechts. Yanne Liebrechts yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Simon Lefebre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yanne Liebrechts having to interfere. AC Wetteren's Yanne Liebrechts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jesse Winnepennincx in the 77th minute of play. AC Wetteren's Yanne Liebrechts proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save AC Wetteren from getting a goal against them. Simon Lefebre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yanne Liebrechts having to interfere. Thomas-Jan Tilemans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Franky Francx in the 96th minute of the match. Thomas-Jan Tilemans stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Franky Francx's shot from short distance in the 98th minute. When the final whistle sounded Velde left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than AC Wetteren.
