An unexpectedly hard shot by Achilles Vrijdag in the 8th minute of play forced GS AS.'s goalkeeper Bass Rutgeerts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Verrendries's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matias Stessel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. GS AS.'s Bass Rutgeerts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Achilles Vrijdag in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute Matias Stessel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bass Rutgeerts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the GS AS. defense, Matias Stessel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bass Rutgeerts. The GS AS. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bass Rutgeerts should have stopped the shot. In the 39th minute, Achilles Vrijdag made a precise shot to the right of Bass Rutgeerts. GS AS.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. In the 43rd play minute Gustaaf De Weijngaert came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Jorne Van Gestel. 1-2.

The wind increased when Achilles Vrijdag made the kick off in the second half. If Matias Stessel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bass Rutgeerts was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Achilles Vrijdag capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Achilles Vrijdag really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Bass Rutgeerts made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Matias Stessel sent off a good shot on target. When Jozef Kuppens fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GS AS.'s protests and gave Jozef Kuppens a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th minute, Jozef Kuppens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matias Stessel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Bass Rutgeerts made a huge save. 63 minutes into the game, Leopold van Hacht was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GS AS.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Verrendries the free kick. After 63 played minutes GS AS. got a freekick which was hit by Leopold van Hacht. After a defensive mix-up in GS AS.'s zone, Achilles Vrijdag stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bass Rutgeerts came out of the goal and Achilles Vrijdag tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bass Rutgeerts was a little too slow when Achilles Vrijdag got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 72nd minute. The score was now 1-4. Achilles Vrijdag struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Bass Rutgeerts didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Verrendries. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Matias Stessel put it in 1-5 from a short distance just to the right of Bass Rutgeerts. Achilles Vrijdag struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. The goalkeeper, Bass Rutgeerts, was totally fooled by Verrendries's Danny Rompen, who 88 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Achilles Vrijdag received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Bass Rutgeerts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Verrendries's Matias Stessel got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bass Rutgeerts made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Matias Stessel sent off a good shot on target. When the match was over Verrendries could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than GS AS. throughout the match.
