When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Mario Klinkenberg sped through Mechelen's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lauren Everaerts. Thibaud Goorts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lauren Everaerts having to interfere. Mario Klinkenberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 12th match minute, Mechelen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cederic De Fever to maneuver through the defense. In the 14th match minute, Mechelen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gillis Lambert to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mario Klinkenberg in the 18th minute of play forced Mechelen's goalkeeper Lauren Everaerts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lauren Everaerts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thibaud Goorts in the 22nd minute of the match. Lauren Everaerts stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thibaud Goorts's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Lauren Everaerts didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mario Klinkenberg went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thibaud Goorts in the 33rd minute of play forced Mechelen's goalkeeper Lauren Everaerts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Mechelen's zone, Thibaud Goorts stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lauren Everaerts came out of the goal and Thibaud Goorts tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lauren Everaerts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thibaud Goorts, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Lauren Everaerts took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mario Klinkenberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Stakendijk's Thibaud Goorts in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mechelen's goalie prevented a goal. After the first half Stakendijk were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lauren Everaerts prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 67 played minutes Mechelen got a freekick which was hit by Gillis Lambert. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Mario Klinkenberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stakendijk's supporters rose to their feet, but Mario Klinkenberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lauren Everaerts breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Thibaud Goorts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 74 minutes into the game Lieven Van Linthaudt kicked a great long shot which passed Lauren Everaerts straight ahead into the goal, Result 1-3. One couldn't see Lieven Van Linthaudt behind all of his teammates who surrounded to congratulate him. Thibaud Goorts succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-4 in the 85th playminute. After a rather tough play, Mechelen's Herbert Vrijdag got a free kick in the 93rd minute. In the 96th minute Louis-Philippe Fossaert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luke Boegaerts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lauren Everaerts made an important save on a dangerous shot by Thibaud Goorts in the 98th minute. Stakendijk's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
