Kristof Hylen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Jorge Van der Vorst when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, FC Soccer Bears's Tijs Van Den Brande got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Marc Cempeners managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Soccer Bears's supporters rose to their feet, but Marc Cempeners was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arne Steenbeeck breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lode Van Hespen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Van der Vorst having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Benny Schrijns got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 37th minute, Stephen Pelgrims left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Soccer Bears fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Jorge Van der Vorst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lode Van Hespen in the 45th minute of play. After the first half FC Soccer Bears were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Soccer Bears would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
