The audience thought a goal was coming when Levi Smets got free with Nicolaas Roeckeloes in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 20 played minutes Club Brugge got a freekick which was hit by Jochen Wouters. Luk Wuijts recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ctibor Závada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Club Brugge's Nicolaas Roeckeloes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benny Van den Wyngaert in the 31st minute of play. Nicolaas Roeckeloes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Levi Smets in the 32nd minute. Gertjan Daems sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th match minute, Rekkem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Seppe Van Hoeyvelt to maneuver through the defense. In the 37th minute, Gertjan Daems ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Armand Vorster was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The audience was convinced that Gertjan Daems's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Armand Vorster was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. 46 minutes into the match, Maxim-Alexander Ghesels notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Club Brugge's Nicolaas Roeckeloes. Nicolaas Roeckeloes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ctibor Závada to make the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Rekkem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicky Ruelens to maneuver through the defense. 54 minutes into the game, Club Brugge's Ctibor Závada nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Armand Vorster made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Ctibor Závada might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Armand Vorster. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ctibor Závada ran back to his position shaking his head. Armand Vorster didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gertjan Daems went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Club Brugge's zone, Levi Smets stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicolaas Roeckeloes came out of the goal and Levi Smets tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 70 minutes into the match, Rekkem's goalkeeper Armand Vorster had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gertjan Daems. Ctibor Závada received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Armand Vorster came out and tried to block the shot, but Ctibor Závada slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 73rd minute. Armand Vorster didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Club Brugge's Ctibor Závada shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-5 in the ordered_time% minute. In the 82nd match minute, Rekkem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Seppe Van Hoeyvelt to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Sergio Geldhof in the 83rd minute really tested Armand Vorster's skills. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benny Van den Wyngaert in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nicolaas Roeckeloes saved Club Brugge from getting behind. 92 minutes into the match, Gertjan Daems dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Armand Vorster, 1-6. When Gertjan Daems came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Club Brugge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gertjan Daems couldn't finish the play.
