The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Andrez Cerneels hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Club Anderlecht's zone, Pieter-Maarten De Mey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mathijs Meeus came out of the goal and Pieter-Maarten De Mey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute of the match, Evert-Jan Hollants tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gilbert Ketelers saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The supporters of Sporting Club Anderlecht booed when Nivelles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pieter-Maarten De Mey didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Nivelles's goalkeeper Gilbert Ketelers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bernardinho Leme. In the 23rd minute Raf Peeters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mathijs Meeus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Raf Peeters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 26th play minutes Bernardinho Leme shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Gilbert Ketelers and just under the crossbar into goal. Nivelles were furious when Enzo Van de Wal was red carded, 29 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 28 minutes into the game, one of Nivelles:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 32nd minute Evert-Jan Hollants shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilbert Ketelers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 34 played minutes Sporting Club Anderlecht got a freekick which was hit by Andrez Cerneels. The crowd rose to their feet as Evert-Jan Hollants kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gilbert Ketelers. That made the score 3-0 in the 37 minute of play. In the 41st minute Steff de Vleeschouwer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilbert Ketelers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 44 minutes, Patrik De Geyter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nivelles's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patrik De Geyter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bernardinho Leme to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Nivelles's Pieter-Maarten De Mey got a free kick in the 51st minute. Nivelles's Gilbert Ketelers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robbe Schuts in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardinho Leme in the 57th minute of play forced Nivelles's goalkeeper Gilbert Ketelers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Evert-Jan Hollants sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 64 minutes into the match, Bernardinho Leme notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Nivelles's Gilbert Ketelers. Gilbert Ketelers was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The throw-in from Robbe Schuts in the 67th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Nivelles's Pieter-Maarten De Mey. The Sporting Club Anderlecht fans' excitement grew in the 71st match minute when Sporting Club Anderlecht's Evert-Jan Hollants looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Nivelles's Gilbert Ketelers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardinho Leme in the 75th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Bernardinho Leme ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gilbert Ketelers was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. A sloppy throw-in by Robbe Schuts in the 86th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Nivelles's Pieter-Maarten De Mey. Gilbert Ketelers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bernardinho Leme went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. For all the effort they put into the match, the Nivelles players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Sporting Club Anderlecht.
