Club Brugge KV's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Dominic Pardaens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute, Club Brugge KV's Diedrik Winnepenninck ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luckas Van Lier. Luckas Van Lier yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Diedrik Winnepenninck succeeded in the game's 20th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. The supporters of FC meert booed when Club Brugge KV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dan Van de kauter didn't get a good kick on the ball. 26 minutes into the match, FC meert's Richey Suteweij broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 29th minute, Levi Haentjens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 32nd minute, Jordy Hendrickx left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Brugge KV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. In the 36th minute, Diedrik Winnepenninck ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luckas Van Lier was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Max Goovaerts hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Club Brugge KV's Diedrik Winnepenninck got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cederik Le Page struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Crispijn Deprez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC meert.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Diedrik Winnepenninck to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Tibo Van Looy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 53 minutes into the match, FC meert's Joseph De Meyer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Crispijn Deprez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to FC meert getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Andrew Viskens hit a great ball. Luckas Van Lier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominic Pardaens in the 56th minute of play. After 60 minutes Club Brugge KV's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Richey Suteweij who took care of the corner kick. FC meert's Luckas Van Lier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tibo Van Looy in the 61st minute of play. In the 66th minute of the match Dan Van de kauter shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luckas Van Lier showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Richey Suteweij had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joseph De Meyer in the 68th minute of play forced Club Brugge KV's goalkeeper Crispijn Deprez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 71 minutes of play, Club Brugge KV's Diedrik Winnepenninck made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luckas Van Lier was left in no man's land by his defense there! Max Goovaerts hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Luckas Van Lier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diedrik Winnepenninck in the 75th minute of the match. The supporters of FC meert booed when Club Brugge KV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tibo Van Looy didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute, Richey Suteweij fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Crispijn Deprez, passed just outside the right post. FC meert's Joseph De Meyer got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 85 minutes into the match, FC meert's goal looked a bit too open when Jordy Hendrickx came free, but Luckas Van Lier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Richey Suteweij sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luckas Van Lier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dominic Pardaens, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. After a rather tough play, Club Brugge KV's Tibo Van Looy got a free kick in the 96th minute. Richey Suteweij sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC meert players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Club Brugge KV.
