The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. The supporters of RSCA U21 booed when FC Hannutd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillaume Streels didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Corneel Van Leemputt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 12 played minutes FC Hannutd got a freekick which was hit by Bertrand Van Hole. If Philip Van Achter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute, Philip Van Achter made a precise shot to the right of Evert-Jan Vaes. FC Hannutd's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When Philip Van Achter came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the RSCA U21 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Philip Van Achter couldn't finish the play. FC Hannutd's Evert-Jan Vaes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Philip Van Achter in the 27th minute of play. If Matthis Thielemans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute Matthis Thielemans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robby Thielemans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Philip Van Achter's late challenge caught a FC Hannutd's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Philip Van Achter helped the player get up and apologised. Kasper Jongbloedt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Robby Thielemans made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in FC Hannutd's zone, Philip Van Achter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evert-Jan Vaes came out of the goal and Philip Van Achter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matthis Thielemans to make the kick off. If Corneel Van Leemputt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Louis-Philippe Reijnders received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Evert-Jan Vaes came out and tried to block the shot, but Louis-Philippe Reijnders slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 56th minute. After 80 minutes, Corneel Van Leemputt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the RSCA U21 and the FC Hannutd players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, RSCA U21's Corneel Van Leemputt got a free kick in the 80th minute. Corneel Van Leemputt hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Robby Thielemans stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kasper Jongbloedt's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Robby Thielemans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertrand Van Hole in the 85th minute of play. 87 minutes into the match, RSCA U21's goal looked a bit too open when Matthis Thielemans came free, but Robby Thielemans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the RSCA U21 defense, Matthis Thielemans kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Robby Thielemans. The RSCA U21 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Robby Thielemans should have stopped the shot. In the 96th minute, Corneel Van Leemputt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. RSCA U21's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
