George Vereect started the match with the kick off. 4 minutes into the game, Niels Berrewouts was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zandvoorde's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Racing Leuven the free kick. Joachim Pannekoek hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Ferdinand Raedemaeckers made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Niels Berrewouts sent off a good shot on target. Harrie Smidts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hans De Block in the 12th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Raemakers in the 15th minute of play forced Zandvoorde's goalkeeper Harrie Smidts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Philippe Francx during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th match minute, Zandvoorde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Philippe Francx to maneuver through the defense. Harrie Smidts made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lieven Bossuyt in the 18th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Zandvoorde's goal looked a bit too open when Lieven Bossuyt came free, but Harrie Smidts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Fredrik Van Den Driessche in the 25th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Zandvoorde's Philippe Francx. Hans De Block sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nicolas Van Beets fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harrie Smidts having to interfere. Lieven Bossuyt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Harrie Smidts having to make a save. Harrie Smidts made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lieven Bossuyt in the 33rd minute of play. Nicolas Van Beets fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harrie Smidts having to interfere. Zandvoorde's attentive Herbert De Vreese managed to snatch the ball when Joachim Pannekoek made a throw-in in the 38th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lieven Bossuyt in the 48th minute of play forced Zandvoorde's goalkeeper Harrie Smidts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Lieven Bossuyt made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Lieven Bossuyt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Racing Leuven's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lieven Bossuyt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Nicolas Van Beets came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Racing Leuven fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolas Van Beets couldn't finish the play. With his leg Harrie Smidts managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when Racing Leuven's Lieven Bossuyt fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Harrie Smidts made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gino Van Den Eijnde in the 56th minute of play. Binjamin De Greef received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Ferdinand Raedemaeckers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Harrie Smidts made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Ian Raemakers sent off a good shot on target. Zandvoorde's Harrie Smidts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gino Van Den Eijnde in the 62nd minute of play. Harrie Smidts took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lieven Bossuyt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A throw-in in the 67th minute of the game was made by Joachim Pannekoek with Gino Van Den Eijnde as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Herbert De Vreese hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Lieven Bossuyt kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Harrie Smidts. That made the score 0-1 in the 69 minute of play. Lieven Bossuyt struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Harrie Smidts didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Leuven. Lieven Bossuyt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Harrie Smidts made a huge save. Harrie Smidts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gino Van Den Eijnde, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. After a rather tough play, Racing Leuven's Nicolas Van Beets got a free kick in the 80th minute. After 86 played minutes Zandvoorde got a freekick which was hit by George Vereect. Zandvoorde's attentive Herbert De Vreese managed to snatch the ball when Gino Van Den Eijnde made a throw-in in the 90th minute of the game.
