Excelsior Mullem's Roel Van Leemputte tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Excelsior Mullem's defense didn't have a chance, in the 14th minute, when Henri-Xavier Van Meerbeek scored to the left of an out of position Roel Van Leemputte, making the score, 3-0. In the 17th match minute, ZVC Wellen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waud Boumans to maneuver through the defense. After 26 played minutes ZVC Wellen got a freekick which was hit by Abel de Nijs. William Hostens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Reynaerts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes had been played when some careless play by Excelsior Mullem's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Henri-Xavier Van Meerbeek was slow to take the kick. During this time ZVC Wellen's players had a chance to rest. Bartjan Slegers made a great header on ZVC Wellen's corner, it was just that Excelsior Mullem's Roel Van Leemputte managed to reach the ball for a save. After a rather tough play, ZVC Wellen's Bartjan Slegers got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Roel Van Leemputte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henri-Xavier Van Meerbeek, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Excelsior Mullem's zone, Alan Huybrechts stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roel Van Leemputte came out of the goal and Alan Huybrechts tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 47 minutes, Waud Boumans mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ZVC Wellen and the Excelsior Mullem players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 47th minute, Waud Boumans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cedric Vuerinckx stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. ZVC Wellen's William Hostens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save ZVC Wellen from getting a goal against them. Henri-Xavier Van Meerbeek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roel Van Leemputte having to interfere. In the 63rd minute Aaron De Maerschalck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roel Van Leemputte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When ZVC Wellen's Henri-Xavier Van Meerbeek in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Excelsior Mullem's goalie prevented a goal. Roel Van Leemputte came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by ZVC Wellen's Alan Huybrechts. But to his dismay, Alan Huybrechts quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Alan Huybrechts charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alan Huybrechts the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 73rd minute, Alan Huybrechts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Excelsior Mullem's Roel Van Leemputte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henri-Xavier Van Meerbeek in the 77th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Excelsior Mullem's zone, Bartjan Slegers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roel Van Leemputte came out of the goal and Bartjan Slegers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. William Hostens made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Cedric Vuerinckx sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Reynaerts in the 82nd minute of play forced ZVC Wellen's goalkeeper William Hostens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alan Huybrechts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roel Van Leemputte having to interfere. Excelsior Mullem's Roel Van Leemputte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henri-Xavier Van Meerbeek in the 90th minute of play. Aaron De Maerschalck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Roel Van Leemputte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 96 minutes into the game, Rocky Verdonk was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ZVC Wellen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Excelsior Mullem the free kick. In the 96th minute, Rocky Verdonk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. ZVC Wellen walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
