Club Brugge's Emile Teunis got a good chance for a goal in the 2nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, FC Luys's Cederik Koppen got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 7 minutes into the game, Emile Teunis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Gerard Dierickx was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Oswald Clijsters succeeded in the game's 13th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Ewout De Meulder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oswald Clijsters, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Emile Teunis dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gerard Dierickx, 2-1. Ewout De Meulder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oswald Clijsters in the 23rd minute of the match. Club Brugge's Emile Teunis got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Wilfried Meersman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emile Teunis made a kick off. 57 minutes into the match, FC Luys's goal looked a bit too open when Fre Deflandre came free, but Gerard Dierickx reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fre Deflandre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 63rd minute, Oswald Clijsters ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ewout De Meulder was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. Fre Deflandre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Gerard Dierickx tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 68 minutes, Fre Deflandre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Brugge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fre Deflandre was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 72 minutes of play, Club Brugge's Emile Teunis made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gerard Dierickx was left in no man's land by his defense there! 76 minutes in the game, Emile Teunis dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Fre Deflandre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerard Dierickx having to interfere. 6-2 became the score in the 80th minute when Emile Teunis elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. When Leopold Teurfs fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Brugge's protests and gave Leopold Teurfs a yellow card for diving instead. In the 84th minute, Leopold Teurfs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Ewout De Meulder managed to avoid a goal in the 86thth minute, when FC Luys's Wilfried Meersman fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Fre Deflandre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Gerard Dierickx tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Cederik Koppen was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 95 minutes had been played. In the 96th match minute, FC Luys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cederik Koppen to maneuver through the defense. In the 97th minute of the match Hans Dauwe shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gerard Dierickx showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
