The tension between the Barça and the MeldertFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Barça was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martial Van Hooveldt to maneuver through the defense. In the 15th minute of the match, Phillipe Gelens tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Joeri Verdeyen saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julien De Munck in the 53rd minute of play forced MeldertFC's goalkeeper Eddie Simonsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joeri Verdeyen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phillipe Gelens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Goran Gardakov in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joeri Verdeyen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. MeldertFC's Phillipe Gelens got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Barça's Joeri Verdeyen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Goran Gardakov in the 69th minute of play. Goran Gardakov took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joeri Verdeyen. Joeri Verdeyen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Joeri Verdeyen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Goran Gardakov, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
